The Power of Perspective
Example #1
Industry: Specialty Distribution of Business Products
Unit Focus: Interior Building Products, Lumber
Market: New York City Metro Market + Long Island
Role: P&L responsibility for team of 25 and $15.0 million sales
Problem: Operating overhead is ~4.0 percentage points above national average across 200 locations; multiple deliveries to the same jobsite due to loading errors; additional drag on sales due to reduced capacity of the fleet resulting in inefficiency delivery routes that need to be customized every 24 hours due to the nature of construction activity in NYC.
Solution: Loading trucks in the evenings as opposed to mornings; additional act of shutting down phones at 5:00pm and refusing add-on orders, which trained customers to place orders earlier throughout the day.
Result: +4.0 percentage point reduction in operational expenses; stability in pricing and billing, leading to a near elimination of credit disputes; greater efficiency inside the branch with respect to the division of labor; improved customer relations while gross profit for the branch trended upwards.

Example #2
Industry: Higher Education
Unit Focus: Entrepreneurial Studies Program
Market: New England (University of Hartford)
Role: BSBA Coordinator for the Entrepreneurial Studies Program
Problem: The Entrepreneurial Studies Program faced difficulties in scaling for a number of reasons: ~30-to-40% of students in the flagship introductory course were from non-business majors, required to work as a team for a live-client project. The growth in diversity was creating issues due to a lack of experience with business concepts and working as a team.
Solution: Reconfigured the curriculum across courses in entrepreneurial studies program; the introductory course focuses on individual creativity to harness the diversity of academic disciplines enabling scalability.
Result: Enrollment increased +120%; two sections of the class became fully enrolled in the first official launch in Fall 2023 after piloting in Spring 2023, and in Spring 2026. Commercialization ideas increased from ~15 per year to ~85 per year allowing for stronger student-alumni relationships.
Implementation Cost: Zero (0) $$$
